Hideaway, North Wales
Nestled in the Welsh coastline is Tŷ Clyd, meaning ‘cosy house’, a gorgeous 18th century cottage that has been lovingly refurbished.
During our initial site visit, we were struck by the sense of enclosure and opening throughout the garden which eventually led to the incredible coastal views. We decided to run with this feeling and design a series of nooks and pockets throughout the garden, each with their own distinct feeling and function.
In and around the Welsh slate walls, we recommended drought-tolerant coastal planting to weave through the garden and be encouraged to self-seed over time. As well as, in a few carefully selected areas, embracing resilient plants that will thrive in the construction waste substrate left behind.
