Camellia Hayes | Landscape Architect
Camellia has taken a more unconventional route to the world of landscape architecture, having spent the last decade high jumping at international and national levels; during which she achieved a Geography BA (Hons) degree (2013 – 2016) and worked for a Transport Safety Research Centre.
However, it is Camellia’s fascination with the natural world that has remained a constant throughout her life. Growing up, Camellia fondly recalls walking across the fields near her home and attempting to make her own tadpole pond with bin bags. Later in life, being involved in a high-pressured environment, Camellia found solace in her countryside walks as a way to recharge.
Camellia was awarded a Distinction for her MLA at the University of Sheffield (2021 – 2024), where she researched the relationship between workplace greenspaces and mental health. In 2023, Camellia was a RHS Young Designer of the Year finalist, and her first show garden ‘Seeking Resilience’ won a Silver medal.
Alison Fowler Hayes | Garden Design Consultant
Alison has a multi-faceted background: in marketing, press and PR, journalism, and latterly in business development and consultancy. Along with her design skills, she brings these strands together in her work for Camellia Collective.
She has her father to thank for first introducing her to gardening, in his spare time away from his career in business he was usually found among the flower borders or in the vegetable patch. Working alongside him was a way to connect with him and learn at the same time.
