Oasis, London
This garden is close to our hearts, having spent many past summer evenings enjoying the dappled shade cast by the ash trees and the tranquillity that envelops the space. Therefore, when we were commissioned to redesign this garden, it was imperative to work with the existing vegetation and materials as much as possible and further enhance this magical oasis in the city.
Feelings of the countryside have been welcomed through subtle moments of cottage planting, which complements the existing roses. Careful plant selections ensure that the garden will adapt to the wet winters and exceptionally hot summers, which are now characterising London.
Inspired by Islamic gardens, water and symmetry have been utilised throughout the space. The existing pond was refurbished and modernised, and a rill water feature was added to provide the therapeutic sound of running water.
